Jim Easton is the Chief Executive of York Hospitals NHS Trust. York Hospital is one of more than 20 sites across the UK involved in the Foundation’s Safer Patients Initiative.

Jim has been a manager in the NHS for 19 years, with a broad background including working in mental health, primary care, planning and national policy development as well as hospital management.

 Over the last seven years Jim has been particularly involved in work on quality improvement in the NHS. He is Chair of the Improving Hospitals Group and is a regular contributor to international work on healthcare improvement. He was also a member of the NHS Modernisation Agency Board.

Jim is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Healthcare Management and Marketing and is currently completing a doctorate on the leadership of healthcare improvement.

Jim Easton, who was appointed as one of the Governers earlier this year, has been appointed as the Chief Executive of South Central SHA.
