2010 is the beginning of a new stage for us. Our early improvement and research programmes are reaching conclusions. We have important learning to share. We are also stepping back to consider what is needed next to improve quality.
The health service is under intense pressure. As an independent foundation, it is more important than ever for us to create the space for those working in the service to step back and look at ways to meet the current challenges.
Going forward, we will put a greater focus on encouraging others to consider our learning, connect with each other and change their policies and practices. We have expanded our research and development programme and we are testing new ideas in a wide-ranging portfolio of award schemes. This year we will be setting out our agenda for improving quality, launching a new website as a lighthouse for quality and stepping up our approach to supporting and stimulating networking.
We have developed a new identity to help people understand what we do and encourage them to take up ideas, learning and knowledge from across all of our work to improve the quality of health services.
- Identify: We provide the evidence and highlight the success stories to show that improvement is possible.
- Innovate: We help people to take a step back, innovate, and plan the practicalities of change.
- Demonstrate: We put ideas to work, share our learning and turn demonstration into accepted practice.
- Encourage: We work across every level of the healthcare system to create advocates for our approach.
