Involving patients in their own safety - webinar from The Health Foundation on Vimeo.

Health and care strategies across the UK, including the Five Year Forward View, are now focused on putting patients at the centre.

Drawing on the results of two research projects IMPRESS and PRoSOCT funded through the Insight Patient Safety programme, this webinar explores: the rationale for involving patients in their own safety, how patients and clinicians conceptualise safety, and facilitators and barriers to patient involvement in safety.

The projects focus on involving hospital inpatients in medication management, and reporting their safety on transfer home; although findings are widely applicable to patient safety and person centred-care more generally.

Speakers include:

  • Professor Bryony Dean-Franklin, Executive Lead Pharmacist (Research)
  • Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
  • Dr Sara Garfield, Research Pharmacist, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
  • Professor Pam Dawson, Associate Dean, Health and Life Sciences, Northumbria University.
  • Dr Jason Scott, Research Associate, University of Newcastle
  • Helen Crisp, Assistant Director of Research, the Health Foundation.
