Abstract

The author examines nursing in England and the future of care in the British healthcare systems. She elaborates on the fallout from the failure of care in England at Mid Staffordshire National Health Sevice (HNS) Foundations Trust. She also argues research revealing that contemporary nursing practice bears only a fleeting resemblance to the profession's holistic ideals as well as comments on the mismatch between professional ideals and material reality in England.
