From Consultant to CEO

15 December 2008

A Monitor conference in February will focus on why clinical leadership must be at the heart of the NHS.

This one day national conference will focus on why the future well-being of the NHS is dependent on senior clinicians leading the way, creating new strategies for more responsive service delivery. It will identify the leadership skills required to discharge these new duties and how clinicians can acquire them.

Service-line management (SLM) focuses on the creation of effective self-governing units within the hospital environment, allowing clinicians the autonomy to deliver improvements in both care quality and performance at specialty level. SLM is already having a profound effect in a number of hospitals where clinicians are leading change. From Consultant to CEO will offer practical case studies of the successful implementation of SLM across the NHS.

Speakers include:

  • Professor Sir Bruce Keogh, NHS Medical Director
  • Dr Jonathan Perlin, Chief Medical Officer, Hospital Corporation of America
  • Professor John Moxham, Medical Director, King’s College Hospital
  • Professor Tom Lee, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School
  • Professor David Fish, Medical Director, University College London
  • Dr Martin Baggaley, Medical Director, South London & Maudsley Mental Health Hospital

Who should attend?

This conference has been designed specifically for medical directors, clinical directors and leading consultants at speciality level of NHS organisations.

This conference is free-of-charge for all senior clinicians and shall be eligible for CPD accreditation.

Date and venue
