Nine healthcare professionals win awards to improve patient care
The Health Foundation has announced the winners of the latest round of its Leading Practice Through Research award scheme. Nine healthcare professionals have been successful and represent the fields of nursing, dentistry, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, dietetics and clinical science.
Each award holder will be funded by the Health Foundation to carry out a research project that will make a direct difference to the quality of patient care. Additionally, they will receive personal development training to hone their leadership skills. It is hoped that using these skills they will spread the findings of their research not only in their local healthcare setting but on a regional and potentially national level too.
Stephen Thornton, Chief Executive of the Health Foundation, congratulated the award holders by saying, “These talented individuals have been selected for their research and leadership potential. Through their projects they will improve the patient experience and the quality and performance of healthcare delivery.”
The Leading Practice Through Research awards were launched in 2002 for a period of four years. So far 28 successful applicants have received awards. Applications for the final round of the award scheme are currently being assessed.
