Supporting patient safety

01 February 2008

The Health Foundation is pleased to announce their support for the Patient Safety Congress 2008.

Around one in ten patients in hospital experience an incident that puts their safety at risk, and about half of these could have been prevented. Patient safety is now one of the highest priority issues in today’s healthcare – and awareness is rising across the health service.

The Congress is a unique forum for sharing advances in patient safety from the UK and overseas and we hope that you will be able to attend this important event.

The full programme is now available online and places can be booked via the Patient Safety Congress website.

The Health Foundation is working alongside the HSJ, Nursing Times, the National Patient Safety Agency, the Institute for Innovation and Improvement and Microsoft to bring together key clinical leaders, policy makers and international figures in the patient safety movement. The congress is on 22 and 23 May 2008 at the ExCel Centre, London

The Congress features:

  • policy discussion
  • practical training on delivering frontline improvements
  • case studies of excellence
  • inspirational presentations from experts including Maureen Baker, National Clinical Lead for Safety, NHS Connecting for Health; Donald Berwick, President Institute for Healthcare Improvement; Professor Bruce Keogh, Medical Director, NHS; Martin Fletcher, Chief Executive, NPSA; Stephen Ramsden, Luton and Dunstable, NHS Foundation
