The context for changing relationships has changed dramatically since the Health Foundation has been working in this area. From a position where national policy was often silent or muted, we have seen patient-centred care, particularly shared decision-making in England and mutuality in Scotland, become increasingly central to the vision of high quality care.
In 2012 we will continue to generate new insights into effective approaches to change relationships through our Co-creating Health, shared decision-making (MAGIC) and Closing the Gap programmes, their associated evaluations and a number of reviews of the evidence.
We are working to capture the learning from our shared decision making programme and will be launching a resource centre in the first half of 2012.
The next round of our Shine programme will provide an opportunity to test innovative approaches to improving quality through changing relationships.
