Inspiring improvement by organising for quality

During 2012 we will be supporting a number of programmes seeking sustained improvement at an organisational scale:

  • Shared Purpose is focused on corporate and clinical teams working together to achieve large-scale improvements in quality. Work at the eight chosen sites will begin towards the end of the year
  • We will launch the Patient and Family-centred Care programme (the the second phase of our Hospital Pathways programme), delivered in partnership with The King’s Fund
  • Our Flow, Cost Quality programme is working at two sites to improve the flow of patients from before hospital admission to post discharge. This work will finish in 2012 and findings will be disseminated later in the year

We will be looking at how to develop a flagship programme that supports a small number of health economies over an extended period to bring about transformation in care. The work will focus on a key quality challenge and seek to deliver significant change in the shape and quality of service provision for the long term.

Our two leadership development programmes, GenerationQ and the Quality Improvement Fellowships, will continue in 2012.

We believe that networks are becoming all the more important in driving through lasting improvements to healthcare. Our work to support networks will open for applications later in the year.
