In 2007 the Health Foundation launched the 'Improving the quality of care for people from black and minority ethnic groups' programme.

This was designed to support six outstanding multi-organisational or multi-disciplinary teams (including social services and voluntary sector organisations) to become more effective in their work in order to improve and mainstream health services for people from BME groups.

Six participating sites took part in the programme and their experiences will be used to inform the development of future leadership programmes. The six sites were:

  • Blackburn with Darwen
  • Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster
  • Oldham
  • Sheffield
  • Wakefield
  • Walsall

This Snapshot explores what the programme achieved and some of the key learning points which have emerged from it.
