This publication gives an introduction to the work and ethos of the Health Foundation; what we do and how we do it. It is a must-read for anyone wanting to find out more about us or wanting to share what we do with others.
Our approach
It outlines our approach to improving the quality of healthcare and gives examples of our approach in practice.
The four pillars of our approach are:
- identify – to prove change is necessary
- innovate – to test new ideas in practice
- demonstrate – to turn what works into accepted practice
- encourage – to inspire and create advocates throughout the UK health services.
Our programmes and networks
It features highlights from our research, our improvement programmes, our influencing work, and our collaborations with and support for leaders and networks.
These include:
- GenerationQ. A leadership programme which has been designed to create skilled leaders who can guide the way in improving the quality of healthcare. The programme focuses on a unique combination of leadership development and improvement science, related to the day-to-day challenges faced by the UK health system.
- The Shine challenge 2011. This programme challenges healthcare professionals to find new approaches to delivering healthcare that reduce the need for acute hospital care while at the same time improving quality and saving money.
- Safer Patients Network. This has been designed as an innovative, self-sustaining, member-driven group of organisations, all hoping to increase the pace and scale of change in eliminating patient harm within and beyond their own organisations. We launched the network in July 2009 in partnership with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
