Climate change and environmental breakdown are serious and urgent issues, presenting significant risks to health globally and in the UK.

There is also recognition that the health and care system contributes to climate change and therefore has an important role to play in achieving a net zero UK.

As a foundation, we believe we have a responsibility to act on climate change, and we have made environmental sustainability a cross-cutting theme in our 2023–25 strategic plan. This includes leveraging our role as an investor, provider of analysis and research, and grant giver, as well as improving the sustainability of our workplace and events.

As a funder, investor and workplace with a carbon footprint, we have a responsibility to act on climate change, and we have been working to embed environmental sustainability across our activities.
