Nihar Shembavnekar Economist
Nihar Shembavnekar joined the Health Foundation in February 2020 as an Economist.
Nihar works primarily on labour market issues in health and social care. His work contributes to supply-side analysis on a range of topics, including low paid staff in the health and care sectors and nurse supply modelling.
Prior to joining the Health Foundation, Nihar worked as a labour market economist at HM Treasury, where he undertook research on minimum wage policy. He also has prior experience in quantitative and qualitative research at Ofgem and ICF Consulting. Nihar holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Sussex, where he also taught a number of undergraduate and postgraduate economics modules, and an MPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford.
