Usha Boolaky Assistant Director for Research
Usha Boolaky is the Assistant Director for Research at the Health Foundation.
Usha joined the Foundation in 2017, where she initially worked on the Supporting Health Care Improvement and Data Analytics for Better Health Programmes. She is now responsible for overseeing the Foundation’s major externally funded research awards and evaluations across all its strategic areas.
Prior to working at the Health Foundation, Usha was at the Institute of Public Care, Oxford Brookes University, where she led on a range of programmes analysing, evaluating and supporting the implementation of policy into practice on behalf of the Department of Health, Department of Education, and the Welsh Government. She also led a range of improvement programmes at the health and social care interface focusing on care pathways for older people, mental health and learning disabilities. Usha worked for the Science and Technology Research Council, and for an independent research and evaluation consultancy.
Usha has a PhD in Neuropharmacology from the Welsh School of Pharmacy and is a qualified coach (accredited at a Senior Practitioner level, EMCC). She has produced a number of publications on commissioning and integrating health and social care and supporting carers. She is a board member of the Health Service Research UK Network, and sits on a number of advisory panels and committees supporting the mobilisation of research into policy and practice.
