Multispecialty Community Provider emerging care model and contract framework Our response to the NHS England's request for feedback

16 December 2016

About 1 mins to read

NHS England invited feedback from interested parties on the contract framework proposed for Multispecialty Community Providers, one of the new care models described in the NHS Five Year Forward View.

We were encouraged to see recognition of the complexity and scale of the change within the framework and that a Multispecialty Community Provider (MCP) cannot be ‘willed in to being’.

MCPs, like any provider, need robust plans to ensure they are accountable for their performance – both in terms of their finances and the quality of care they provide. Therefore we were pleased to see the importance placed on assessing the robustness of such plans as part of the MCP procurement process.

We welcomed the expectation that vanguard MCPs and aspirant MCPs participate in two way learning, which we feel will help them to share successes and failures in real time.
