About me

Amelia is a GenerationQ Fellow and Director for Patient Safety and Europe Region Operations at Institute for Healthcare Improvement.

Amelia Brooks is both a Director for Patient Safety and Director for the Europe Region at IHI. Her role primarily involves supporting individuals, teams, organisations and governments to drive and deliver quality improvement initiatives in the UK and around Europe.

She is responsible for the European strategy and leads multiple internal project-specific teams, as well as running a European improvement leadership alliance that promotes collaboration and progression. Amelia spent the first 10 years of her career in various strategic and operational roles within the NHS and has expert knowledge of human factors, improvement science and patient safety.

As well as being a founding member of the Q Initiative, she participated in the Health Foundation's Safer Clinical Systems programme and feels a strong connection and responsibility to contribute positively to the UK health system. She hopes that participating in the Generation Q programme will significantly improve the effectiveness of her interactions with different organisations from all sectors of health care. She hopes to apply her learning to effectively engage people not employed in a health care-related role, such as patients, families and carers, in improvement:
