About me

Asangaedem Akpan (MPHIL MPH FRCP FAcadMed) is a Visiting Professor,University of Cumbria & Honorary Clinical Associate Professor, University of Liverpool, Consultant Geriatrician, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS FT, Ageing Specialty Research Group Lead at the Clinical Research Network Northwest Coast and Chair of the Mersey British Geriatrics Society. In 2011 was awarded a prestigious international fellowship at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement in the USA including time at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health which culminated in the award of a Masters in Public Health. He has been awarded National Health Service clinical excellence awards for his contributions to service developments, has peer reviewed publications, gives lectures regionally, nationally and internationally, writes blogs on health related matters, contributes to interdisciplinary education/training in the health & wellbeing of older people and collaborates with researchers from diverse professional groups. Key areas of interests are health & social equity, innovations in healthcare delivery, integrated care, population health approaches to the care of people and health care outcomes that matter to people.
