About me

Christopher is a GenerationQ Fellow and Deputy Director of Planning at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

He is responsible for the Board’s Integrated Medium Term Plan, which brings together all of the activity of the board into a coordinated process and, if approved by the Welsh Government, enables financial flexibility.

Christopher spent 10 years in Welsh government, working directly with health ministers developing health policy and accountability frameworks. He was a member of the Welsh Government Board and UK civil service shadow board, helping to support the development of the civil service at a Welsh and UK level. In his last role as Associate Director of Planning and Performance for Velindre NHS Trust, he led an initiative to improve their approach to performance monitoring.

Christopher has two main motivations behind his GenerationQ fellowship: to expand his network and knowledge, and test his skills and ideas in a wider environment; and to support the opportunity that devolution brings for experimentation and innovation in health systems.

‘I don’t believe we have fully realised the potential of being able to test and try different ideas and models in the four NHS systems in the UK and share the learning this provides.’

Through GenerationQ, Christopher hopes to develop the skills needed to deliver change now and at pace in his organisation, and help turn strategic plans into a reality: ‘I would like to develop an organisational decision-making approach and tool to support the health board in aligning the choices it makes with its strategy.’
