Dr Ola Junaid Associate Medical Director Clinical Transformation

About me

Ola is a GenerationQ Fellow and Associate Medical Director Clinical Transformation, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

He is responsible for establishing clinical service strategies and implementing systems to measure and evaluate their impact. His challenging system-wide leadership role involves building positive relationships with clinical commissioning groups, primary and secondary care, acute and community trusts, and mental health providers across Nottinghamshire.

Ola also has Trust-wide oversight of Mental Health Act governance.

A particular interest of Ola’s is creating an environment where clinicians have genuine opportunities to contribute to the development of new care models that improve patient experience and efficiently utilise resources. He has helped develop a new care model that will enable a greater proportion of patients with mild or stable long-term mental illness to be managed in primary care so that the most complex patients can receive care from mental health services.

Ola hopes that participating in the GenerationQ fellowship will help him to acquire and develop the skills necessary to improve his chances of success in directing his Trust’s ambitious and radical programme of clinical transformation: ‘The GenerationQ fellowship will provide me, and thus my organisation, with the opportunity to effectively lead improvements in health care in Nottinghamshire’.

With the aim of ensuring that mental and physical health services are recognised as equal partners in Nottinghamshire’s new integrated care system, Ola believes ‘the potential impact could be enormous. True integration can transform population health for the better’.
