Health as an asset We want to change the conversation to focus on health as an asset, rather than ill health as a burden

We believe good health supports positive social and economic outcomes – both for the individual and for society as a whole. We want government to view health as an investment for the future so it takes more longer-term decisions.

Our latest work

The social and economic value of health

We have awarded £3.2m across 10 projects for innovative research that builds evidence for health as an asset for the economy and society. This programme aims to generate the knowledge needed to understand the impact that health has on social and economic outcomes.

The programme has been running since 2017, across two phases. The 2017 round focused on the impact of individuals’ health on their social and economic outcomes, and the 2019 round is focusing on the health of populations in a place.
