Our evidence for the Scottish Parliament’s Health, Social Care and Sport Committee: pre-budget scrutiny 2023-24 

Our response to the Scottish Parliament’s Health, Social Care and Sport Committee Pre-budget scrutiny 2023-24 draws predominantly on analysis of health and social care services in England to point to trends and issues that may be relevant to policymakers in Scotland for the next fiscal year. Our analysis focuses on workforce, funding, spending and sustainability in the England and UK context. 

Our evidence focuses on health and social care services in England and the UK, including: 

  • Analysis on workforce supply and demand in the NHS in England and proposed strategy to address challenges 
  • Projections for the future health and social care funding requirements in England 
  • Analysis of UK health spending in comparison to overseas government spending 
  • Public opinion survey on support for the NHS net zero aims 

This evidence was used in a letter from the Health, Social Care and Sport Committee Convenor the Health and Social Care Cabinet Secretary on 27 October 2022.
