As part of our wider project exploring funding options for the NHS and social care in the UK, this working paper explores the preferences of the general public when it comes to raising additional funds. It presents findings from a discrete choice experiment carried out with 2,756 respondents across the UK, and draws out the policy implications.

Our new briefing presents the findings from research carried out by FrameWorks Institute, comparing public understanding, expert opinion and media narrative about what makes us healthy. The research identifies four challenges communicators must tackle to increase public understanding and build support for the policies needed to reduce health inequalities.

The Marmot Review 10 Years On

With growing evidence that the years of life lost to inequalities is increasing, the Health Foundation is working with Professor Michael Marmot and his team at the Institute of Health Equity to review how health inequalities have changed and examine what progress has been made on tackling the social determinants of health.
