1. Taking our health for granted: Plugging the public health grant funding gap

Our new briefing paper assesses the extent of cuts to the public health grant since 2014/15 and projects the amount required per year to plug the funding gap that now exists. We have called for an additional £3.2bn a year to reverse the cuts and ensure funding is re-allocated according to need.

3. The Health Foundation becomes a Living Wage Friendly Funder

We’ve become a Living Wage Friendly Funder! Good and well-paid work plays a significant role in keeping us healthy. To encourage good employment, we will ask grant applicants to consider paying the real Living Wage rate for all posts included in their applications.

4. Research and Improvement grants – tell us what you think  

We would like to hear from those who have applied, or considered applying to one of our Open Call Research or Improvement programmes. We are looking to understand what you consider are the strengths and weaknesses of how we commission and manage our programmes, and your suggestions for how we can better design and develop them in the future. The survey should only take 10-15 minutes and the closing date is Friday 23 November 2018.

5. Webinar: System mapping as a tool for action 

Interested in complex system mapping, but unsure about how it can help you find solutions to public health challenges in your own work? Join our webinar for public health professionals on 4 December 2018. Hear practical examples of how system mapping has helped people tackle complex public health challenges, from the UK and further afield. Hear the latest thinking about how to apply ‘system thinking’ in your own work, and discover how it can help you identify innovative ways to improve population health across the system.

6. GenerationQ leadership programme opening soon for applications

We want senior leaders in the health service to apply for our part-time funded leadership development programme, GenerationQ. On the 18-month programme GenerationQ Fellows achieve a postgraduate certificate in Leadership (Quality Improvement) from Ashridge Executive Education at Hult International Business School. The programme opens for applications on 27 November 2018.
