Professor Katherine Fenton talks about managing safety proactively and how the Health Foundation's measuring and monitoring of safety framework can be used to achieve this.

In this video, she talks about her role as Executive Director of Nursing at UCLH Foundation Trust, the importance of senior staff being available out of hours and what needs to change to improve safety in the future.

She also talks about the measures that they have put in place to manage safety including the care thermometer which enables ward staff to understand how they are doing in relation to patient safety and empowers them to make changes.
