In a powerful short film, shown at our 2018 annual event, The human element: a vital catalyst for improvement, Dr Claire Lemer shared her experience of  being a patient and how this will help to inform her clinical practice in the future.

After being hit by a car, Claire became a trauma patient at a London hospital. The care she received gave her vital insight into what works well for patients and what could work a bit differently. Claire says 'I really truly believe I will go back and be a better doctor and hopefully a better supporter of health care as a result of my experiences'.

The annual event explored, that if we are to improve the quality of health services, it is essential that there is a greater focus on supporting and investing in the people who work day in and day out, and under considerable strain, to deliver patient care.
