About me
Catherine Falconer is a 2024–25 UK Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy and Practice.
She currently serves as Deputy Director of Health Equity and Inclusion at the UK Health Security Agency, leading a team providing expert health protection advice and guidance to cover a range of high-risk and disproportionately impacted groups and settings including health and justice, inclusion health, and education and childcare. She also leads delivery of the UKHSA Health Equity for Health Security Strategy.
She is a passionate advocate for inter-generational equity and improving outcomes for children and young people and, in 2021, led the national COVID-19 response for children, young people and education settings. She has done specialty training in public health and public health roles across a range of organizations including local and national government, the NHS, and academia.
She has a Ph.D. in child health from the University of Birmingham and a master’s in public health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She is an Honorary Senior Consultant Lecturer at the University of Bristol and a current member of the NIHR Public Health Research prioritisation committee.
