The UK Covid-19 Inquiry has been set up to examine the UK’s response to and impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and learn lessons for the future. The inquiry is chaired by Baroness Heather Hallett, and is independent of government.

The Health Foundation was asked to give evidence to Module One of the inquiry which focused on the resilience and preparedness of the UK, including health and care services, prior to 2020. Jennifer Dixon provided a written witness statement and on 17 July 2023 provided oral evidence – both can be found below.

The next modules of the inquiry are due to consider core UK decision-making and political governance, the impact on healthcare systems in the UK, and vaccines and therapeutics. If we are called upon to provide further evidence, this page will be updated in accordance with the Inquiry process.
