Dr Allister Grant Medical Director

About me

Allister is a Generation Q Fellow and Medical Director at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust. He also works as Clinical Director for the LLR NHS Alliance.

The LLR NHS Alliance is a partnership between the three main providers of health care in Leicestershire and three clinical commissioning groups.

As Clinical Director for the Alliance, he is responsible for around 150 clinicians and works closely with the Chief Nurse to manage clinical governance. He also leads the clinical reference group that generates and assesses the feasibility of transformation ideas, and is on the senior management team that manages the £23m annual budget.

Throughout his career, Allister has enjoyed working strategically across traditional NHS boundaries and believes that his extensive experience of working with multiple provider organisations and current role in a partnership will provide valuable input to the GenerationQ programme. Allister says that his ‘experience of clinical leadership, in what is still a novel system of working, will bring a unique perspective to my peer learners who will provide their own experiences which I will be able to learn from’.

Allister hopes that the programme will improve his leadership skills and enable him to be more effective in influencing and delivering timely and efficient system-wide improvements: ‘I want to use this opportunity to share the skills and knowledge I develop with those I work with, as innovative working based on best evidence is something I feel passionately about’.

Specifically, he plans to put his learning into practice by facilitating the delivery of Better Care Together, a significant programme of work that aims to transform the health and social care system in LLR by 2019.
