About me

Chunda is a GenerationQ Fellow and Consultant Anaesthetist and Intensivist, and Deputy Clinical Director of Elective Care, Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust.

He is currently Deputy Clinical Director within the Elective Care directorate, with responsibility for leading on quality and governance issues across a range of services. This involves ensuring that systems are in place to report, respond to and learn from serious incidents, complaints and audits, and produce sustainable change.

In his previous role as Clinical Lead for Critical Care, Chunda successfully oversaw the transformation of critical care delivery services. This involved engaging staff, introducing evidence-based practices and quality initiatives, and enabling the intensive care consultant team to focus on specific initiatives within their own areas of expertise.

Chunda hopes that GenerationQ will give him the confidence to take on more innovative and ambitious quality improvement projects, and effectively mentor staff working on smaller projects.

He is particularly looking forward to the ongoing support and feedback he will get from his coach, sponsor and fellows: ‘I am keen to develop the skills required to deliver the changes needed within my organisation and directorate, but more importantly to ensure they are sustainable.’

In particular, Chunda plans to use his skills to influence change within specific theatre pathways. He hopes that this will form a template for the modernisation of theatre practices: ‘Successfully challenging and changing culture in one area, along with the skills and knowledge gained from undertaking this programme, will help me engage others in improving all aspects of our theatre pathways.’
