About me
David is a Quality Improvement Fellow and Director of Gozzard Consulting Limited, a consultancy specialising in quality improvement in health care.
The business was established in 2009 and David now works on this exclusively after his retirement from the NHS in 2011.
David trained as a laboratory and clinical haematologist. Following graduation from Birmingham University in 1977, he moved onto a consultant haematologist position in North Wales in 1988 and developed the clinical haematology service there over the next decade.
He then became a Clinical Director of Pathology, achieving a MBA from Cardiff University in 2001 and taking on the position of Medical Director, which he remained in until his retirement.
David's achievements to date include improving ambulance bundles for stroke care to 90% reliability, and improving cardiac care from 50% to 76% and rising.
He has an enduring interest in quality, serving on the faculty of a number of quality-related organisations including the Safer Patients Initiative, Executive Quality Academy and 1000 Lives Plus Campaign, reflecting his commitment to developing local faculties for improvement.
