About me
Justin is a GenerationQ Fellow and Specialist Registrar - General Adult Psychiatry at South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust.
He is responsible for leading the quality improvement programme at the Trust and ensuring it is implemented, and building and embedding a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the organisation. In conjunction with the Medical Director, he supports the delivery of high-quality care, providing strategic leadership.
A Consultant Psychiatrist at the Trust since 2012, Justin was also Mental Health Tariff lead until 2017, when he took on the Associate Medical Director role. He was one of the first cohort of Darzi Fellows in 2009/10.
During his GenerationQ fellowship, Justin will be working on an improvement project to help the Trust better identify unwarranted variation in the current care pathways for working age adults in community mental health services. This can then be used to identify where improvement can be made to optimise the effectiveness of community services and thereby reduce demand on adult acute inpatient services. Justin explained: 'This project has the potential to unlock the organisation’s transformation agenda, and the process could enable transformation across the sector.'
Justin hopes GenerationQ will provide him with the skills, knowledge and mind set to meet the challenges he faces in leading transformational change. 'The combination of technical and relational aspects of leading improvement, and the learning environments of this programme which encourage the construction of knowledge together, is very appealing to me.'
