About me

Laura is a GenerationQ Fellow and Director of Clinical Services at The Royal Osteoporosis Society.

She has worked at Prostate Cancer UK since 2011. Prior to that she was a Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist at North West London Hospitals NHS Trust.

She began at Prostate Cancer UK (previously The Prostate Cancer Charity) as Senior Specialist Nurse, before becoming Head of Services. She was appointed Deputy Director of Services in January 2013. Her role involves the operational management and leadership responsibility for the Services Directorate of the charity.

The directorate has 70 members of clinical and non-clinical staff focused on five key areas: direct support to men, community support, working with health professionals and the NHS, awareness, and work through volunteers.

Through GenerationQ, Lauren hopes to learn more about the theory underpinning best practice, change management and leadership: ‘The ‘ambition in practice’ aspect of GenerationQ will give me the opportunity to develop as a leader while leading my directorate through significant change that will not only improve outcomes for men, but also transform the way Prostate Cancer UK influences effective and sustainable change within the health care environment.’

From 2015/16, Prostate Cancer UK is introducing an ambitious three-year programme to improve the lives of men living with prostate cancer. Lauren will have a significant role in supporting the development, implementation and embedding of the programme: ‘If I am successful in demonstrating truly effective leadership I believe that the pain of transition to a new way of working can be reduced and a culture of empowerment and innovation can be achieved.’
