About me

Maria is a Health Foundation Leadership Fellow and Clinical Director, Allied Health Professionals, at Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust.

At the time of her fellowship, she was Allied Health Professional Lead, Children and Young People’s Services for Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust.

Maria graduated with a Diploma in Occupational Therapy in 1990 and went on to specialise in Child and Adolescent Mental Health completing the ENB 603 (OT) in 1995 and then an MSc in Health Sciences, Occupational Therapy in 1998. 

Maria has additionally qualified as a Reiki Practitioner and IHBC Massage therapist, studied Life Coaching and is currently training as an NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Practitioner.  

As Lead Allied Health Professional since July 2007, her main responsibility was to ensure the provision of high quality, effective and efficient AHP services to children and young people with mental health/learning disabilities. As a Lead Occupational Therapist with a specialist clinical caseload, Maria’s role involved the provision of high quality specialist interventions. 

In addition, Maria provided training and development of staff, carried out research and development and strategically influenced service developments for AHPs, exploring and developing new and innovative ways of working.
