About me
Mark is a GenerationQ Fellow and Medical Director at the Golden Jubilee Foundation.
Mark graduated in medicine and physiology from Glasgow University in 1990, and then trained in general medicine and nephrology, predominantly in the west of Scotland.
He was appointed as a Consultant Physician and Nephrologist in 2004, and Clinical Director for Medical Specialties at Crosshouse Hospital, NHS Ayrshire and Arran, in 2008. He then became a Senior Medical Officer in the Scottish Government Health Directorates, with responsibility for medical revalidation and appraisal, and is a trained appraiser.
As a medical manager his focus has been on enhancing the quality of clinical care, particularly in acute medicine, and in enhancing the quality of clinical training for undergraduates and postgraduates.
Mark’s clinical and research interests are in the epidemiology and service implications of chronic kidney disease, and in home haemodialysis.
