A new era for data analytics as we bid farewell to our director Adam Steventon

About 2 mins to read

Following seven years with the Health Foundation as our Director of Data Analytics, Adam Steventon will be moving on to a new role with Our Future Health as Head of Data Platforms. Our Future Health is the UK's largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to prevent, detect and treat diseases.

Adam developed and led the data analytics strategy and directorate when he joined the Foundation, which hadn’t previously existed. The work of the data analytics team has informed decision making at a national scale, as well as locally and has had a significant impact in developing analytical capability across the NHS and social care system.

Dr Jennifer Dixon, Chief Executive of the Health Foundation, said:

‘Adam has made a terrific contribution to build a superb Data Analytics team in his time with us, which has used large, person-level health and social care data sets to produce world class analysis on important issues such as integrated care, enhanced health in care homes and multimorbidity. He has brought real commitment to ensuring that patients benefit from advances in analytics, and partnering with the NHS, and been a much-valued member of the directors' team. He will be missed very much, and Our Future Health is very fortunate to be benefitting from his considerable skills and experience.'

Adam Steventon said:

‘Joining the Health Foundation was a wonderful opportunity to test out new ways of using data analytics to improve health care. It’s been hugely enjoyable to help establish our Improvement Analytics Unit, Networked Data Lab and in-house analytics team, while working with data analytics teams in the NHS and social care analytics teams through our award programmes.

‘Our partnerships with the Ada Lovelace Institute, HDR UK and the NHSX AI Lab have also been hugely enjoyable and have helped improve the impact that analytics and data-driven technology are having on health. I'm looking forward to seeing what the organisation does in the future.’

Adam will be leaving the Foundation in mid-February 2022 and to ensure continued leadership and development of data analytics Charles Tallack, Assistant Director for the REAL Centre has been appointed as the Interim Director of Data Analytics.

Charles will be starting his interim role in March 2022 while he transitions from the REAL Centre and will be in the role full time from April 2022 when recruitment will start for a permanent director.

We congratulate Adam on his new role at Our Future Health and thank him for leaving us with an incredible data analytics function.
