Health Foundation’s response to Hinchingbrooke Health Care NHS Trust report
The Public Accounts Committee today (18 March 2015) published its latest report on Hinchingbrooke Health Care NHS Trust. The announcement follows the decision made by Circle, a private health care company, to withdraw from its franchise to manage the hospital earlier this year.
In response to today’s announcement, Richard Taunt, Director of Policy at the Health Foundation, commented: 'There is a great deal for the NHS to learn from the franchising of Hinchingbrooke Health Care NHS Trust, and we commend the Public Accounts Committee’s report.
'New and innovative ways of organising and delivering care are essential if the NHS is to improve productivity, efficiency and quality - the status quo for the NHS is not an option. To do so, it is critical that the NHS learns from experiments like Hinchingbrooke’s franchise. Building the skills across the service to assess and manage the risks that come with innovation is vital to deliver the change our health service needs.'
