Sir Hugh Taylor appointed as new chair of the Health Foundation

Independent charity the Health Foundation has announced that Sir Hugh Taylor will take over as its new chair from November this year.

Sir Hugh Taylor, former Permanent Secretary at the Department of Health and current chair of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, joins the Health Foundation to lead the charity’s board and support its vision to bring about better health and health care for people in the UK.

Sir Hugh brings many years of experience and insight leading health and social care policy, including senior roles across government.

The appointment coincides with the announcement of two new board members to the charity: Eric Gregory, a highly experienced Non-Executive Director and formerly a senior director at the John Lewis Partnership; and Loraine Hawkins, former Chief Analyst for NHS England and currently an expert health systems advisor to the World Health Organisation. Loraine will join the board in July and Eric in September.

Sir Hugh will replace Sir Alan Langlands FRSE, who has been chair of the Health Foundation since 2009.
