- The Policy Challenge Fund involved high quality, original policy analysis projects.
- Aimed to generate insight to support and inform policy makers on important current and future issues in UK health policy.
- £450,000 was awarded across six projects which were completed in 2016.
Health and care services face challenges in the coming years, particularly in transforming the way care is delivered within tight budgets.
As part of our Policy Challenge Fund, we offered funding to short, focused projects on areas of significance to future policy decisions. Topic areas linked to this central challenge included:
- predictions and support for quality in a resource-constrained NHS
- having constructive conversations on ‘wicked issues’
- competition in health services
- learning about failure from other sectors and health systems.
Aims
The aim was to build interest and expertise in rapid policy analysis within the academic and policy communities, and generate insight that will support high quality decision making and improve the quality of the policy debate.
Each project received funding for research to be completed over 12 months.
The projects were completed during 2016.
