  • The Health Foundation is supporting HSR UK’s 16th annual conference on 4–6 July 2023, contributing to several sessions over the three days.
  • The conference will promote, and support applied health and care research across the UK, bringing together participants from universities, government, the NHS, local authorities, research funding agencies and charities.
  • The HSR UK Conference 2023 will be hosted at the University of Birmingham and online.

The Health Foundation will be speaking at several sessions over the three-day event from 4–6 July 2023. Come and meet representatives from our organisation at research discussions, plenary sessions and interactive workshops and hear from our experts.

Full session title: What might a UK research agenda to build resilience against future health shocks look like? Determining the what and tackling the how

Joe Hewton (Research Officer) and Amanda Watts (Research Manager) co-present with Michael Lawrie and Michael Clemence from Ipsos on the findings from Developing the Long-term Research Agenda with the abstract lead by Justine Karpusheff (Assistant Director Research).

This session held by Therese Lloyd (Senior Analytical Manager) and Paul Chappell (Senior Data Analyst) explores the aims and scope of the virtual wards programme in England and the Improvement Analytics Unit’s evaluation strategy. It also previews results from our survey on staff and public attitudes to virtual wards. Joining Therese and Paul are Andy Weaver (Data and Analytics Directorate, NHS England) and Natalie Offord (Consultant Geriatrician, Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust).

Jake Beech (Policy Fellow) presents this project on the experience of primary care networks (PCNs) in areas of high deprivation, with a publication in progress.

Full workshop title: NHS elective recovery: Exploring the impact of high-volume low complexity surgical hubs on a range of patient service, and system outcomes 

Geraldine Clark (Senior Analytical Manager) and Freya Tracey (Senior Data Analyst) supported by Elena Bechberger, Nicola Kennedy and Stefano Conti from NHSE and William Gray from GIRFT present on Improvement Analytics Unit (IAU) work with the NHSE elective care team looking at the implementation and design of elective hubs in England.

Anita Charlesworth (Director of Research and REAL Centre) joins a plenary session exploring the experiences of researchers who have either chosen to work closely with the media to disseminate their work or often find themselves in the media spotlight. The session will be facilitated by Deb Cohen (ITV).
