Our contribution to the COVID-19 public inquiry

The UK COVID-19 Inquiry has been set up to examine the UK’s response to and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and learn lessons for the future. The inquiry is chaired by Baroness Heather Hallett, and is independent of government.
The Health Foundation was asked to give evidence to Module One of the inquiry which focused on the resilience and preparedness of the UK, inclung health and care services, prior to 2020 and to Module Seven which focused on the UK’s approach to testing, tracing and isolation during the pandemic.
Jennifer Dixon provided written witness statements to both modules, and on 17 July 2023 provided oral evidence to Module One. Both witness statements are available to download below.
Remaining modules of the Inquiry are due to consider the impacts of COVID-19 on children and young people, the government’s economic response and the pandemic’s impact on society. If the Health Foundation is called upon to provide further evidence, this page will be updated in accordance with the Inquiry process.
