The future of national general practice policy

Date Wednesday 3 July 2024, 13.00–17.00 Thursday 4 July 2024, 8.30–16.00

The Health Foundation hosted a symposium on the future of national general practice policy in July 2024. The papers prepared for this event are presented here for reference.

The discussion papers each cover one of six topics: the role of general practice in the English NHS, coordination with other services, the future of the workforce,  organisation and delivery, commissioning and contracting and the future of funding. Authors were asked to keep to a tight brief – for each topic, describing how it currently works, what an ideal version would look like, the current barriers to achieving that vision, and setting key questions to be considered by delegates in discussions.

The views expressed in these papers represent those of the authors.
