About me
Simon is a Quality Improvement Fellow, former Medical Director and Chief Executive, current MPTS Tribunal member.
At the time of his fellowship, Simon was Consultant in Critical Care and Medical Director for University Hospitals Division, NHS Lothian. He returned to NHS Lothian as Medical Director for Quality Improvement in NHS Lothian and was also Clinical Lead for Business Intelligence at Healthcare Improvement Scotland.
In 2015 he became Medical Director at St George's NHS Foundation Trust in London and was then Acting Chief Executive there. From 2017-2020 he worked at NHS Improvement supporting challenged health systems and then leading SE England's Covid19 Critical Care response.
He was President of the Scottish Intensive Care Society 2007-2009.
Simon has participated in Scottish and UK quality improvement work including guidelines for SIGN, the Intensive Care Society, NPSA and the Scottish Government. He has chaired two NICE Guideline Development Commitees.
